The library holdings includes over 11,100 books, and over 600 non-book materials (audio-visual and periodical materials). In support of the school’s Accelerated Reader program, over 7,000 of the library books are Accelerated Reader quiz books. As of September 2006, the library book collection was transferred to an automation system. We are using the DESTINY program from the Follett Software Company. Our computer catalog is accessible from your home, and it also identifies the Accelerated Reader books owned by the Library.
LIBRARY PROGRAMS AND PROCEDURES1. Students in Grades 1 – 8 have the privilege of checking out library materials during their class' library scheduled times throughout the year. 2. Kindergarten students begin checking out a single book at a time in November. 3. All Parents/Guardians (Preschool - Grade 8) may check out books at anytime. 4. Preschool through Grade 3 students have storytimes in the library throughout the year. 5. Circulation is for a two-week period, but it is highly recommended that students return books as soon as they are finished reading and loving them especially with the demand of books for the Accelerated Reader program. 6. We do not charge fines for late books. Lost or damaged books must be paid for by the student or the family. The cost of the book plus a $3.00 processing fee will be charged. 7. The Library supports The Chapel School annual Book Fair which is held in early spring, and hosts an end-of-year Summer Reading List Book Sale.
BIRTHDAY BOOK PROGRAMParents are invited to celebrate their child’s Birthday with a monetary gift for the purchase of a new book (or books) in honor of their child. Birthday book flyers go home at the beginning of each month.
