Why The Chapel School (TCS)?

The Chapel School is a small school that students and families grow to love.   Classes average approximately 12 to 14 students per, ensuring a very personalized education.  We offer a variety of athletic and fine arts programs that focus on inclusion over competition.  And for parents/guardians, we have a very active PTO organization which allows ample opportunity for families to get involved.

 

Where is TCS located?

The Chapel School is located in the beautiful Village of Bronxville, less than 10 miles from the Bronx and 20 miles from Manhattan.  We are easily accessible by car and conveniently located by numerous parkways and highways.  TCS families come to us from Bronxville, Tuckahoe, Eastchester, Scarsdale, Mt. Vernon, Yonkers, White Plains and NYC.

 

What are the school hours at TCS?

The Chapel School's early morning CARE opens at 7:30 AM.  K-8 Classrooms open at 7:45 AM and Preschool classrooms open at 8:15 AM.  Kindergarten dismisses at 2:30 PM, Grade 1 at 2:35 PM, Grades 2-4 at 2:45 PM and Grades 5-8 at 3:00 PM.  After-school CARE remains open until 6:00 PM.

 

How many students attend TCS?

The Chapel School once served upwards of 340 students per year from Preschool through Grade 8, and we look forward to returning to pre-pandemic enrollment in the coming years. 

 

What is the student to teacher ratio at TCS?

In The Chapel School's Preschool, there are full-time teacher aides (TAs), so there is a 5:1 ratio with 2s and 7:1 ratio when 3s and 4s classes are filled to capacity.  In Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2, we move to a 9:1 ratio including the teacher and TA.  Grades 3 and 4 share a TA. Kindergarten through Grade 4 classes have a maximum of 18 students per class and Grades 5 through 8 have a maximum of 16 students per class.

 

Is TCS an accredited institution?

The Chapel School is accredited by National Lutheran Schools Accreditation and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools through 2022, and we just completed our Re-Accreditation Visit with both agencies in February 2024.

 

Does TCS hold open houses for prospective families?

Each fall, The Chapel School hosts special open houses for prospective families, separated into specific groups, as follows: Grades K-8 (Lower School and Middle School) and Preschool (2-, 3- and 4-year-olds).  Parents/Guardians are always welcome to call for personal tours.

 

How much is TCS tuition?

Currently, The Chapel School (TCS) Preschool tuition ranges from $7,275-$16,580 depending on the program.  Kindergarten through Grade 5 is $16,880 and Grades 6-8 is $17,985 (Grade 6) and $18,360 (Grades 7-8).

 

Is there tuition assistance at TCS?

The Chapel School has a Financial Aid (FA) Program.  Families submit FA Applications and appropriate tax documentation by March 15th and are awarded aid based on need.

 

Does TCS offer after-school extra-curricular programs?

Aside from The Chapel School's thriving fine arts, music (band and choirs), drama and athletics programs for TCS students in Grades 1-8, TCS students from Preschool through Grade 8 can participate in 8- to 10-Week Fall and Spring After-School Enrichment Programs that might include: Chess Club, Cooking Classes, Book Clubs, Golf, Karate, Yoga, Art and More!

 

What is the TCS uniform policy?

The Chapel School uses Lands End School Uniforms, with specific guidelines outlined in our Family Handbook.

 

Does TCS offer a hot lunch program?

Students at The Chapel School have the option to order hot lunches from Lunch with Lou, an outside caterer who delivers well-balanced and healthy hot meals to TCS each day.

 

Is community service part of TCS's curriculum?

Many students at The Chapel School participate in community service as part of their religion and confirmation instruction at their home churches; however, TCS has a Service Learning Program wherein students have many age-appropriate opportunities to be involved in service projects run by the school.  We have are excited to maintain our partnerships with the Loukoumi Make a Difference Foundation and Feeding Westchester.
